E' finalmente on line il video di "West Coast" di Lana Del Rey.
La canzone anticipa l'uscita dell'album “Ultraviolence” di cui non si conosce ancora la data di rilascio.
Il brano sembra un collage di due canzoni: una compone le strofe, l'altra il ritornello. C'è, infatti, una vera e propria interruzione tra le due parti.
Le strofe, più blues, ma sempre dark, lasciano lo spazio ad un ritornello pacato, quasi volutamente rallentato, che rievoca il suono di un vecchio carillon.
Anche il video musicale, interamente in bianco e nero, che è ambientato in California e che è stato diretto da Vincent Haycock, riprende questa ripartizione.
Nelle strofe vediamo Lana su una spiaggia californiana passeggiare con Barrie-James O'Neill, suo fidanzato nella vita reale, mentre nel ritornello la ritroviamo a bordo di un'automobile guidata da un uomo misterioso, visibilmente più adulto.
Negli ultimi 30 secondi del video, in un montaggio davvero molto amatoriale, vediamo la cantante newyorkese ardere in un fuoco colorato, con addosso un vestito rosso.
Il ritorno sulla scena musicale di Lana Del Rey è decisamente interessante.
Dopo "Born to Die", album che l'ha portata al successo, è riuscita ad tornare sulla scena musicale con un singolo che, pur mantenendo le atmosfere un po' cupe che hanno caratterizzato tutta la sua produzione, è assolutamente diverso da quanto proposto fino ad ora.
Promossa a pieni voti, quindi, la canzone, anche grazie alla produzione di Dan Auerbach (Black Eyed Peas); appena sufficiente il video, troppo semplice e a tratti amatoriale.

The song seems to be a collage of two songs: the first one composes the verses, the secondo one composes the chorus. In fact, there is a real interruption between the two parties.
The verses, more blues, but always dark, leave space to a calm, almost deliberately slowed down, chorus calm, which evokes the sound of an old music box.
Even the music video, entirely in black and white, which is set in California and was directed by Vincent Haycock, echoes this division.
In the verses we can see Lana on a Californian beach walking with Barrie-James O'Neill, her boyfriend, while in the chorus we find the singer in a car driven by a mysterious adult man.
In the last 30 seconds of the video, with a montage very very amateurish, we can see the American singer burn in a colored fire, wearing a red dress.
The return on the musical scene of Lana Del Rey is very interesting.
After "Born to Die", successful album, she came back on the musical scene with a single that on one side maintaines the dark atmosphere that characterized all her work, but, on another side, it's absolutely different from what was proposed since now. Top marks, then, for the song, thanks to the production of Dan Auerbach (Black Eyed Peas) too; but the music video is just satisfactory. It's too simple and sometimes amateurish.
