Music Video: Le Donatella - "Donatella" (feat. Donatella Rettore)

Con il nuovo arrangiamento disco, "Donatella", canzone portata al successo da Donatella Rettore nel 1981, e riproposta dalle sorelle Provvedi, meglio conosciute con il nome d'arte "Le Donatella", ha certamente acquistato una luce diversa.
La musica e le atmosfere dance conferisco al brano brio, vivacità ed energia, rendendo la canzone assolutamente moderna.
"Stona", però, nel vero senso della parola, la voce delle due interpreti, sgraziata, poco intonata e per nulla interessante.
Le due sorelle, da poco reduci dall'"Isola dei famosi", infatti, non aggiungono alcun valore al pezzo, nel quale l'unico momento "valido" è rappresentato dalle incursioni di Miss Rettore, protagonista di un featuring che nonostante tutto già sta facendo discutere.
 Il video, allegro e colorato, incarna pienamente lo spirito del pezzo, più interessante per la musica da ballare che non per le voci da ascoltare.

 "Donatella", the famous Donatella Rettore's song, is revived by Provvedi sisters, better known by the stage name "Le Donatella".
 The song has certainly acquired a different light with the new disco arrangement; infact, new dance music and atmosphere confer to it vitality and energy, making the song absolutely modern.
But the voice of the two interpreters is clumsy, little tune and not at all interesting.
The two sisters, recently winners of the italian reality show "L'isola dei famosi", in fact, don't add any value to the original song, in which the only "valid" moments are represented by the incursions of Miss Rettore, who stars in a featuring already known by the public.
The music video is cheerful and colorful. It fully represents the spirit of the song, that is more interesting for the dance music than for Le Donatella's voices.

Single: Britney Spears - "Pretty Girls"

Britney Spears è tornata con un nuovo singolo che anticipa il suo nuovo album studio, rilasciato probabilmente entro la fine del 2015.
Il brano del suo comeback è "Pretty girls", canzonetta dalle atmosfere urban, feat. Iggy Azalea (quasi come se bastasse far coppia con la rapper del momento per veder rilanciata la propria carriera).
Il pezzo è un po' ripetitivo e per sound ed arrangiamento scimmiotta a tratti la Gwen Stefani di "Hollaback girl".
 Ma una nota positiva c'è: il singolo fa pensare che la parentesi truzzo-dance di "Britney Jean", album passato in sordina anche a causa di una promozione inesistente, sia superata.

Britney Spears is back with a new single that anticipates her new studio album, released probably by the end of 2015.
The song of her comeback is "Pretty girls", simple song with urban atmospheres, feat. Iggy Azalea (probably Britney's management thinks that partnering with the rapper of the moment could be the solution to revive her career).
 The song is a bit repetitive and at times sound and arrangement mimics Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback girl".
There is one only positive note: this single suggests that the nasty-dance period of "Britney Jean" (album passed quietly due also to the low promotion) is now only a memory.

Album: Giorgio Moroder - "Dèjà Vu"

Grande attesa per "Déjà Vu", il prossimo album di Giorgio Moroder, non solo perché al suo interno ci saranno importanti collaborazioni, ma anche perché i due singoli già rilasciati fanno presagire che si tratterà di produzioni di notevole qualità.
Con "Right Here, Right Now", con la partecipazione vocale di Kylie Minogue, ed ancor di più con "Dèjá Vu", in cui la voce protagonista è quella di Sia, il produttore e dj italiano è riuscito a catapultare gli ascoltatori direttamente negli anni '80, senza apparire né scontato né fuori tempo.
Entrambi i brani sono vivaci, colorati, efficaci.
Se con "Right Here, Right Now", si sono assaporate le atmosfere più intime ed eleganti della disco music anni '80, il ritornello ed i cori di "Dèjá Vu" mettono subito allegria... Ed è gran festa!
L'album sarà rilasciato il prossimo 12 Giugno.

Great expectations for "Déjà Vu", next Giorgio Moroder's album, not only because in it there will be a lot of interesting featurings, but also because the two singles already released foretell that it will be a production of considerable quality.
With "Right Here, Right Now", with the vocal participation of Kylie Minogue, and even more with "Déjà Vu", in which the protagonist is the voice of Sia, the Italian producer and DJ brings the listeners directly in 80s, without appearing neither granted nor out of time.
Both songs are lively, colorful, effective.
If in "Right Here, Right Now" we can find the more intimate and elegant part of the 80s disco music, the chorus of "Dèjà Vu" immediately bring joy ... And it's a great party!
The album will be released on 12th June.

News: Becky G - "Lovin' So Hard"

Una promessa non mantenuta. Così si potrebbe definire, in poche parole, Becky G.
 Apparsa sulla scena musicale ormai un paio di anni fa, ha fatto subito parlare di sè per aver scimmiottato Jennifer Lopez con "Becky from the Block", proponendosi quasi come sua possibile erede senza averne effettivo diritto. Sono seguiti un EP ("Play It again") ed una serie di singoli, alcuni dei quali interessanti ("Shower", "Can't stop dancin'"), altri meno ("Play It again", "Hola Hola") ma nessuno veramente d'impatto. Neanche la collaborazione con Pitbull ("Can't Get Enough") è riuscita a darle la popolarità tanto attesa quanto sperata.
C'è da ammettere, però, che la cantante americana non manca di tenacia... E ci prova ancora.
Il nome del nuovo singolo è "Lovin' so Hard", pezzo, dal sound simile a quello delle midtempo anni 2000, è orecchiabile, piacevole, ma non di più.
 Apprezziamo l'impegno, ma restiamo in attesa di quella hit promessa e non ancora rilasciata.

A broken promise. So we could define Becky G. in few words.
he is on the music scene since a couple of years and she is famous more for having aped Jennifer Lopez with "Becky from the Block", (introducing herself almost as her possible successor) that for her music. She has released an EP ("Play It Again") and a set of singles, some of them interesting ("Shower", "Can't stop dancin'"), some not ("Play It Again", "Hola Hola") but no one of them really impact.
Not even the collaboration with Pitbull ("Can't Get Enough") was able to give her the hoped popularity. But we have to admit that the American singer is tenacious: she is trying once again the success.
The name of her new single is "Lovin' so Hard", a midtempo song with a sound similar to 2000s.
 It is catchy, pleasant, but not more. We appreciate the effort, but we are still waiting for the hit that she promised and never released.

Music Video: Madonna - "Ghosttown"

Sospensione di giudizio per "Ghosttown", il video musicale del nuovo singolo di Madonna, secondo estratto da "Rebel Heart".
Ambientato in uno scenario apocalittico, il video vede Madonna in forma smagliante aggirarsi per le strade di una città fantasma, ringiovanita, fiera, con molto più spazio tra i denti di quanto non ne abbia realmente, unica superstite insieme ad un uomo (l'attore statunitense Terrence Howard), con il quale si inventerà/scontrerà, ed un bambino piccolo, insieme ai quali alla fine percorrerà la strada della vita.
La fotografia del video è bellissima, ed il merito è certamente dell'esperta mano del regista Jonas Åkerlund, ma la storia, le dinamiche, l'interpretazione, l'epilogo... Tutto appare molto (troppo) artefatto, esasperato, così inverosimile che, nonostante la consapevolezza che in fondo si tratti di un video musicale, non si sa se apprezzarlo o riderne.

Suspension of judgment for "Ghosttown", the music video of Madonna's new single, the second one from "Rebel Heart".
Set in an apocalyptic scenario, the video shows Madonna in great shape prowling the streets of a ghost town, rejuvenated, fair, with more space between the teeth than she actually has, as only survivor with a man (the American actor Terrence Howard), with which she collides, and a small child, with whom she will travel on the road of life.
The photograph of the video is beautiful, thanks to the great experience of Jonas Åkerlund, but the history, the dynamics, the interpretation, the epilogue ... Everything looks very (too) artifact, exasperated, so far-fetched that despite we know that it is only a music video, we don't know if appreciate it or laugh.

Music Video: Sia - "Big Girls Cry"

Anche per "Big Girls Cry", terzo singolo estratto dall'album "1000 Forms of Fear", Sia ha pensato di legare una propria canzone alla baby ballerina Maddie Ziegler, già protagonista di "Chandelier" ed "Elastic Heart".
Presenza unica del videoclip, da poco rilasciato sul canale Vevo della cantante, la piccola Maddie Ziegler interpreta con pathos e notevole espressività le diverse sfumature del pezzo, malinconico, accattivante, a tratti cupo.
Stavolta lo spettatore non assisterà a nessuna coreografia, non c'è alcuna scenografia particolare, ma solo uno sfondo nero, un primo piano e grandi doti comunicative.
 Questi pochi, ma validi elementi dimostrano che non servono chissà quali artifici per creare qualcosa di valido.
Promossa la scelta del singolo, così come il concept del video, conturbante quanto basta per rimanere impresso e far parlare di sè.

Even in "Big Girls Cry" music video, the third Sia's single from the album "1000 Forms of Fear", the former star is Maddie Ziegler, yet present in "Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart".
The baby dancer is the unique presence in the videoclip, recently released on Vevo channel of the singer.
Maddie Ziegler plays with pathos and remarkable expressiveness the different shades of the melancholic, captivating and gloomy song.
This time, the viewer does not assist in any choreography and the set is absent; there are only a black background, a close-up of the dancer and her great communication skills.
These few, but good, elements shows that great artifices are not necessary to create something valuable.
Good the choice of the single, as good is the concept of the video, suggestive enough to remain imprinted.

Music Video: Rihanna - "American Oxygen"

Si chiama "American Oxygen" il nuovo singolo di Rihanna, il cui video è stato rilasciato in esclusiva sulla piattaforma Tidal di Jay-Z.
Il brano, che probabilmente farà parte del prossimo cd della cantante, di cui al momento sono sconosciuti data di rilascio e titolo, è diverso per struttura e stile dai due che l'hanno preceduto (l'acoustica "FourFiveSeconds", che ha fatto più notizia per la collaborazione con Kanye West e Paul McCartney che non per il plauso del pubblico, e la psichedelica "Bitch Better Have My Money", non dissimile da alcuni pezzi già proposti dalla cantante barbadiana come "Fresh Off the Runway", "Pour It up" o "Loveeeee Song", contenute in "Unapologetic").
La canzone è un omaggio all'America, luogo in cui, nel bene o nel male "si può essere chi si vuole". Nel video, semplice, ma efficace, le scene che riprendono la cantante, in splendida forma, si alternano ad immagini di repertorio che raccontano molti dei momenti della storia americana.
Il brano è introdotto dal suono del pianoforte, che sarà protagonista insieme ad un beat incessante ed un coro sinuoso, capaci di renderlo più suggestivo e d'impatto.

The song, which probably will be part of the next singer's album, which are currently unknown release date and title, is different in structure and style from the two that preceded it (the acoustic "FourFiveSeconds", more known for the collaboration with Kanye West and Paul McCartney than for the applause of the audience, and the psychedelic "Bitch Better Have My Money", not so different from some already proposed songs by the Barbadian singer as "Fresh Off the Runway", "Pour It up" or "Loveeeee Song" that are in "Unapologetic", her previous album).
"American Oxygen" is a tribute to America, where, for better or for worse, "you can be who you want". In the simple but impressive music video, the scenes that reflect the beautiful singer are interspersed with archive images that tell a lot of American history moments.
 The song is introduced by the sound of the piano, which will be present during all the song with an incessant beat and a sinous chorus, that make it suggestive and more impressive.
